dance! dance! otherwise we're lost

I went to see the wonderful movie dedicated to the work of the late & legendary choreographer Pina Bausch this week. Wim Wenders has created a beyond breathtaking hommage to her work and the members of her ensemble. Choosing the city of Wuppertal which is not exactly known for its picturesque beauty and its sceneries as a background for amazing dance performances, Wenders created an intense and moving atmosphere that made me want to enroll in dance class right away.

Definitely a must see!

Her Glossiness

I must admit, I am a big fan of Into the Gloss. It is rather marvelous how its founder, Ms Weiss managed to make such a huge impact with her project by being excellent on all levels. Concept, interviewees, quality of images and content as well as site design. Now all I'm doing is waiting to come up with such a simple but grand idea myself...

Deja:Vü

This image could have been taken directly from a dream I recently had. wearing this exact outfit. Just slightly unsure whether I'd prefer the mint coloured pant/skirt.

Paul P. combines art historical images from the late 19th century with images from the gay magazines of the late 1970s. In 2006 Hedi Slimane used his work for the Spring/Summer publicity campaign of Dior.

Joy Division by Kevin Cummins

Just came across this beautiful Joy Division photobook by Kevin Cummins, including unpublished photos, concert tickets, unreleased record sleeves and Factory Records flyers. Kevin Cummins (born 1953) is a British photographer from Manchester. He began his career just as the band formed and he took one of the first photos of them, thus they had a rather close relationship. Joy Division collects more than two hundred of his images of the band. All in all this book is my favourite Joy Division photobook ever, cause it underlines the atmospheric sound of Joy Division really well.
