oh patrick, what were you thinking? well, what were these completely unprofessional organisers thinking in the first place? the concert was just amazing, but during the first seconds of his last song, the magic position, they simply pulled the plug and ended the gig since it was 10pm and the neighbours had complained.WTF? and patrick decided to start a little riot on stage throwing around equipment and spitting at the crew. anyhow. i still love him and i'm just a tad saddened about the fact that such a wonderful event was surrounded by a) this absolutely cringeworthy performance by steve strange and b)the ugly ending.
but we got about 85 mins of pure and utter musical and visual enjoyment. he played most songs from the bachelor but also some bits from the magic position and wind in the wires. i was painfully missing songs off lycantropy but oh well. still an amazing evening it was worth waiting for such a long time!

well excited to read the news that samantha valentine has now joined R O M A N C E on a permanent basis. another reason of the 3,568 others to be excited about Offset where they'll be playing their next show as a complete line-up. only slightly more than 5 weeks, yay!

just saw the new fever ray vid for her new single triangle walks, one of my absolute faves off her record. the video sort of resembles her stage performance i saw a couple of weeks ago and am still in awe of.

great news this morning, ipso facto, one of my absolute fave all girl bands, well actually i'd call them my absolute fave all girl band, are running their own blog now. you find them here...

i'm really excited about their new stuff, oh hopefully they'll be at offset again this year.

Crystalised

The XX from South London are so amazing! Few bands really come up with a song that I could listen to 3 days on repeat non stop. Crystalised is one such a piece. really helped me through many dull studying-moments in the last weeks.

went to see Fever Ray last saturday, oh dear, what an amazing show, lasers, costumes, smoke, an incredible stage set up. wow. just made me want to start making music myself soooo bad! this woman is just k.i.l.l.e.r.! and i want some synthesizers for my birthday!

the gossip also played, it was good, but not exactly mindblowing. beth did an a capella version of "private dancer" and they played some new stuff. during the phoenix set, after which most of all these "wannabe hipsters" (i will not bang on about how much most people there annoyed the sh*t out of me, except for the nice aussies we met) went home i almost fell asleep twice. I really don't know why everyone is raving about this french indie pop.hm.

simian played very late and all the strobelight was not very kind to my already aching brain suffering from too many kölsch and dehydration. but hey, that's electronic beats, innit?

love don't live here anymore

went to see ladyhawke on tue. 'twas bloody amazing. well. maybe just because we had such a good time going completely mental right in front of the stage. I reckon that last cider was a bit too much so I have to nurse my ma-hu-ssive bruises that I caught when wrestling with the stage now. great.

another thing that i learned was that a local boozer in the train station comes in quite handy at 1am. more kölsch for everyone!

Something to read.

I accidentially picked up the P.I.X. - zine yesterday, just to find out I fucking love it! It's a free fanzine, actually a poster and is mostly about fab music and this time features an artwork from XX teens (who actually were/are art students before starting the band) as well as single reviews, an article about project: komakino and and and.

In Islington I found the London branch of Rockarchive, a gallery, specialised on rock photography, absofuckinglutely amazing! I wanted to have every single photograph on display!

Now I'll have some Special K Oats and Honey, THIS IS THE BEST CEREAL EVER!! I can't ever leave this country, I will die without it!

OFFSET FESTIVAL

Will be taking place on 30th and 31st of July in Hainault Forest, just 30 mins from Central London and a slight bit more from Chelmsford, like always...

The line-up consists of bands like Gang of Four, Blood Red Shoes, Young Knives, Johnny Foreigner, XX Teens, BoomBox and Horrors DJ sets and an awful lot of great new and/or very interesting bands (my faves are definitely S.C.U.M, doing something beautifully dark and without a guitarist!)

yeah, and since it seemed quite the way I would not find anyone who'd go there with me, I just signed up for volunteering, so I get free entry, food and drinks and I get to see my favourite bands (ok, at least I hope so)

I'm really excited, I just pray the weather will be getting a bit better. English summer seems to consist of one day to be exact. Which is alright with me, but that heavy rain and wind all the time gets a bit boring after a while...
